• Operational Research covering the health, social, and anthropological field

Commissioned by the Ghana National Health Insurance Authorities (NHIA), Christine Fenenga studied the perspectives of client on healthcare and health insurance services, using a participatory research approach. Along with producing scientific evidence on barriers explaining the health insurance scheme’s low retention rate, Christine and her research colleagues were asked to advise the NHIA on solutions that would increase participation and retention in the insurance scheme. Christine and the team designed and tested new monitoring tools, which engage healthcare clients in monitoring quality of health care and insurance services (MyCare). Results were improved communication between providers and users of care and better perceived quality.
